Product Profile

OPTIMISED PERFORMANCE
COMPLETE DESIGN & ENGINEERING SUPPORT

Used on turbocharged or supercharged (forced induction) internal combustion engines (ICEs) to improve volumetric efficiency, charge air coolers (CAC) increase intake air-charge density through isochoric cooling.

Also known as intercoolers, charge air coolers reduce the temperature of air that has passed through a turbocharger before it enters the engine, optimising performance by producing more power for a given volume displacement.

Custom designed using a traditional round shell and tube structure or utilising a square profile, Thermex’s range of charge air coolers are designed for liquid cooled applications (both fresh and seawater) and feature high density finned tube stacks to maximise surface area for highly efficient heat transfer. This also ensures overall compact designs.

We utilise a strategic approach to material selection. Options cover ICE power plants commonly found in land-based transport sectors involving commercial vehicles, PSVs and off-highway and construction equipment, as well as marinised engines utilised for commercial, recreational and naval vessels.

We provide complete design and engineering support for standard and bespoke thermal transfer products, combining in-house consultative design, rapid prototype validation and extensive manufacturing capabilities.

Our modular approach to component parts allows flexible versatility and cost-effective solutions to heat exchanger design. We utilise industry proven designs and technology which combine high performance with durability and reliability.

With decades of cross-sector expertise to draw from, we can support global OEMs with new product developments and provide engineered solutions with reliable performance you can depend on.
