Potentially leading to the significant reduction in any systems’ efficiency, many types of hydraulic fluids are particularly susceptible to temperature fluctuations. Often seen as a primary cause of failure, extended exposure to elevated temperatures can lead to accelerated fluid breakdown resulting in the damage of other critical components such as gearboxes, pumps, hoses and seals.

Fluid viscosity decreases as temperatures rise, leading to oxidation and thermal degradation. This catalytic reaction leads to polymerisation and condensation generating by-products such as insoluble gum, sludge and varnish. These by-products seriously impair flow rates, compromising the efficient transfer of power and lubrication, greatly reducing performance.

Working in partnership with manufacturing equipment designers, Thermex designs and builds a range of shell and tube hydraulic oil coolers. Hydraulic oil coolers are essential for efficient dissipation of excess heat to ensure the optimum performance of any hydraulically driven industrial and process equipment such as gearboxes, pumps, motors, accumulators, generators and power jacks.

With 45 years of manufacturing experience, our range of oil coolers can be found in industrial machinery which utilise complex hydraulic fluid power transmission systems typically used in food and beverage processing machinery, presses, packaging machinery and balers, along with a diverse range of R&D test rigs.

All shell and tube heat exchangers are built in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU (PED), Tubular Exchangers Manufacturers Association (TEMA) guidelines and The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, (ASME VIII) criteria. All of these documents are globally recognised, mandatory inspection requirements.

100% Test Policy - every heat exchanger manufactured and despatched by Thermex undergoes comprehensive hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing to validate safety and performance.
