COMPLETE DESIGN
& ENGINEERING SUPPORT
We provide complete design and engineering support for our standard range of shell and tube heat exchangers as well as responding to customer specific requirements with bespoke thermal transfer products.
To identify the most efficient and cost-effective solution, our design engineers utilise custom configurator software to validate existing designs for specific applications or help design a unique unit to suit your requirements.
Please download, fill in and return our Technical Enquiry Data Sheet to sales@thermex.co.uk and a member of our sales team will be in touch to discuss your requirements in detail.
Guidance Notes
To help streamline the thermal design process, clear, accurate data is required but a degree of flexibility is also required to accommodate thermal tolerances.
Besides fluid specifications such as fresh or sea water, glycol mix or oil (including brand and manufacturer) there are 7 data fields that go into the thermal design of an exchanger:
1. Hot inlet temperature
2. Hot outlet temperature
3. Hot flow rate
4. Cold inlet temperature
5. Cold temperature
6. Cold flow rate
7. Heat transfer required
Please insert known data in the required fields.
NB:
5 of 7 fields are required as a minimum.
Ideally, we also require the following:
a) Hot fluid inlet pressure
b) Maximum allowable hot pressure loss
c) Cold fluid inlet pressure
d) Maximum allowable cold pressure loss
NB:
a and c - ideally needed to understand whether the cooler is at risk of stalling the system.
b and d - very useful in charge-air cooling applications.
In the event that thermal data isn’t available we can offer alternative replacements based on physical attributes:
Overall cylinder diameter
Overall length
Port connections (oil and water)
Please highlight any installation or set up constraints to be considered.
